About the Series
What This Series Actually Is
The Empowerment Center™ Trauma-Informed Bible Study Series by Dr. Delisa Rodgers is a powerful collection of Scripture-based eBooks that confront emotional wounds, relational fractures, and spiritual formation through a trauma-informed lens.
Each volume explores a biblical relationship or conflict, uncovering how unresolved grief, betrayal, shame, jealousy, power, silence, and restoration shape human behavior—then invites the reader into healing, wisdom, and transformation.
Designed for personal growth, leadership development, counseling support, and ministry training, this series equips readers to engage Scripture with emotional honesty, spiritual maturity, and redemptive insight.
The Hebrew Bible and the New Testament contain remarkably little romanticism about human relationships. Brothers who sell each other into slavery. Fathers who betray daughters. Leaders who throw spears at the people who love them. Women whose violations are recorded but whose justice is denied. Disciples who deny. Partnerships that explode. Prodigals who return to parties that not everyone was ready to attend.
These are not cautionary tales. They are case studies in what it costs to be human in relationship — and in what it looks like when God is present even in the worst of it.
This is not a devotional. It is not a support group. It is not therapy. It is something the church rarely offers: structured, honest, biblically grounded, psychologically informed companionship with the most difficult parts of your story.
Three Pillars of the Series
Biblical Precision
Hebraic and Greek word studies that show you what the text is actually saying — often more honest and more tender than your English translation suggests.
Trauma-Informed
Clinical frameworks from attachment theory, shame resilience, Bowen family systems, and somatic stabilization — applied directly and practically to each Scripture narrative.
Tools That Remain
Every session delivers evidence-based instruments you keep long after the series ends: grounding practices, reframing worksheets, conflict assessments, and narrative rewriting guides.
The 8-Week Arc
Every Session. Every Story.
Five phases. Eight case studies. One honest journey from naming the wound to commissioning what comes next. Each week pairs a biblical relationship with clinical frameworks and practical tools — so that Scripture and psychology speak to each other, not past each other.
The series follows a deliberate sequence — beginning with trust-building and ending with full commissioning — so that participants are held safely through the most difficult weeks, and sent forward with language and tools for what comes next.
Phase 1 — Naming the Wound
Weeks One & Two
Week One · Joseph & His Brothers
Healing Betrayal Without Becoming Hardened
Genesis 37–50 · Betrayal Trauma · CBT Reframing
Sane' · Bor — relational exile and the empty cistern. The betrayal was real. The pit was real. And the God who saw it all was also real.
Week Two · David, Saul & Jonathan
Surviving Leadership Abuse Without Losing Your Calling
1 Samuel 18–24 · Narcissistic Injury · Grey Rock Strategy
Mashiach · Ruach Ra'ah — the anointed and the distressing spirit. What does it cost to remain faithful when the person above you is broken?
Phase 2 — Grief and Identity
Weeks Three & Four
Week Three · Naomi & Ruth
Grief, Covenant Love, and Learning to Be Mara First
Ruth 1–4 · Grief & Loss · Worden's Mourning Tasks
Hesed · Mara — covenant loyalty and honest bitterness. The Bible does not require you to perform gratitude before you are ready. Naomi named herself Bitter. And God held it.
Week Four · Jacob, Leah & Rachel
Rejection, Comparison, and Praising Before Your Conditions Are Met
Senuah · Yadah — the wound of second place and the praise that breaks it. Leah was unloved. And she named her sons praise anyway.
Phase 3 — The Hardest Material
Week Five · Tamar & Amnon
Carefully Structured · 2 Samuel 13
Sexual Trauma, Institutional Silence, and What It Means That Her No Is in the Canon
Tamar said no. Her no is recorded. Her desolation is recorded. And the silence of the institution around her is also recorded — because Scripture does not sanitize what the powerful prefer to forget.
Anah · Shomemah — the text's own word for violation and the desolation that followed. This is not a cautionary tale. It is a witness.
How This Week Is Structured
Opens with a safety notice and grounding tools before any content is introduced
All exercises are voluntary throughout
Trauma Stabilization and Herman's Recovery Model applied throughout
Crisis resources including RAINN (1-800-656-4673) and 988 provided throughout
For survivors with recent or unprocessed trauma: individual support strongly recommended alongside this material
Phase 4 — Restoration Theology
Weeks Six & Seven
Week Six · Peter & Jesus
Failure, Shame, and the Breakfast That Was Already on the Shore
Luke 22 · John 21 · Shame Spiral · Narrative Rewriting
Agapaō vs. Phileō — the grammar of the restoration conversation. Jesus did not call Peter's failure unreal. He met him on the shore and asked three questions. The same number as the denials.
Week Seven · Paul & Barnabas
Ministry Conflict, Principled Separation, and the Mission That Doubled
Acts 15 · Relational Rupture · TKI Conflict Modes
Paroxusmos — sharp contention at the crisis peak. Sometimes the most generative thing two people can do is separate well. The mission doubled. Both names are in the text.
Phase 5 — Integration & Commissioning
Week Eight · The Prodigal Son & the Older Brother
Series Finale · Luke 15 · Bowen Family Systems · Emotional Regulation
Resentment, Hidden Bitterness, and the Father Who Goes Out to Both
The younger son comes home. The older son stands outside. The Father goes out to both. This is not a story about one kind of lostness — it is a story about every kind of lostness, and the God who refuses to choose between them.
Metanoia — the change of mind that produces a change of direction. This week integrates everything that came before it and commissions what comes next.
Week Eight Includes
Full series integration across all 8 case studies
Bowen Family Systems applied to family reintegration
Emotional regulation tools for resentment and hidden bitterness
Series commissioning declarations
8-week integration completion table

Apostle · Prophet · Founder, The Love Church Charlotte Founder, Soteria Apostolic College of Biblical Studies
Dr. Delisa Rodgers is an apostolic leader, prophet, and founder with over 20 years of ministry experience, whose work sits at the convergence of theological scholarship, trauma-informed care, and prophetic authority. She founded The Love Church Charlotte, Barbara's Lighthouse Resource Center, and Soteria Apostolic College of Biblical Studies, and operates Liberty River Industries as her publishing company.
Her background in mental health and behavioral health is not incidental to her ministry — it is integral to it. The Empowerment Center curriculum emerged from years of work with people who had been given sermons when they needed frameworks, and devotionals when they needed language for what had actually happened to them.
She specializes in prophetic ministry, spiritual warfare, marketplace Christianity, and the conviction that raising up whole people requires the church to take human wounding as seriously as it takes spiritual formation. Her teaching integrates deep Hebrew and Greek word study with the clinical precision necessary to help people name — and begin to move through — what they carry.

Questions
What You Need to Know Before You Begin
Common questions about format, use, safety, and access — answered directly. If you don't find your answer here, reach out to Liberty River Industries Publishing through The Love Church Charlotte.
Do I need to buy all 8 workbooks? Can I start with just one?
No — each workbook stands completely alone. You can begin with any week that speaks to what you're carrying right now. That said, the series follows a deliberate arc that deepens across the eight weeks. If you're committed to the full journey, the bundle is the most complete and cost-effective path.
Can I use this on my own, or do I need a group?
Both. Each workbook is designed for individual self-directed use and for facilitated group settings. The teaching content, reflection exercises, and journaling prompts work fully as a solo practice. Group settings add community and shared witness — but they are not required.
Is this therapy? What's the difference?
No. The Empowerment Center is a structured educational and spiritual formation experience — not therapy and not a clinical treatment program. It draws on evidence-based clinical frameworks and teaches them in an accessible, applied way. For participants in active clinical treatment, this material can serve as a meaningful complement to individual therapy.
I have no background in Hebrew or Greek. Will the word studies be accessible?
Yes — completely. The Hebraic and Greek word studies are written for readers with no prior biblical language training. They are practical, precise, and applied directly to the clinical content of each session. Many participants find these studies are the most clarifying part of the workbooks — finally seeing what the text is actually saying changes how the story lands.
Week Five addresses sexual trauma. Is it safe to work through alone?
Week Five is the most carefully structured workbook in the series. It opens with a safety notice and grounding tools before any content is introduced. Participation in every exercise is voluntary. If you are a survivor with recent or unprocessed trauma, individual support is strongly recommended. Crisis resources including RAINN (1-800-656-4673) and 988 are provided throughout.
Can a church or ministry use these with a group?
Yes. For group use, purchase one copy per participant. For organizations wanting to run the full facilitated program — including the Program Director's Guide, intake protocols, facilitator materials, and the full safety architecture — licensing options are available. Contact Liberty River Industries Publishing through The Love Church Charlotte for licensing inquiries.
What format will I receive? Is there a physical version?
All workbooks are digital downloads — PDF and .docx format, available immediately after purchase. They are designed to be printed at home or at a print shop. Writing in the reflection spaces and journaling pages is central to the material — it's meant to be held in your hands.
